Frequently Asked
Q.Do you handle both excavation and concrete?
Yes — that's a major advantage of hiring A to Z. The excavator and the concrete crew are the same company, so there's no finger-pointing if something doesn't line up.
Q.How deep do foundation footings need to be?
Iron County frost line is generally 30 inches; footings typically extend to 36 inches below grade for code compliance. Heated structures and basement walls have their own requirements that we'll confirm against your plans.
Q.What about drainage around the foundation?
We install a perimeter footing drain (4-inch perforated pipe in washed rock, wrapped in filter fabric) connected to daylight or a dry well. Foundation waterproofing membrane goes on the exterior of stem walls before backfill.
Q.Can you handle expansive clay soils?
Yes. Cedar City and Iron County have areas of expansive clay. The standard solutions are over-excavation with select fill, structural reinforcement, or pier-and-beam foundations — we work with your engineer to spec the right approach.
