Real Stone, Properly Flashed, Built to Stay Put

Adhered and anchored thin stone veneer over framing, CMU, brick, or stucco — for Cedar City, Iron County, and surrounding areas.

The Challenge

Most stone-veneer failures are water failures

Stone veneer doesn't fall off because the stone is bad — it falls off because water got behind it. Skipped flashing, no weep screed, scratch-coat too thin, no kick-out flashing at roof intersections. Done right, veneer outlasts the siding around it. Done wrong, it's a tear-off in eight years.
Our Approach

Water management first, stone selection second

We treat stone veneer as a wall-system problem. Two layers of weather-resistive barrier. Proper weep screed at the base. Kick-out flashing at every roof-to-wall. Scratch-coat brought to spec. Only then do we set stone. The finish looks like the catalog photo, but the wall behind it is what makes it last.
  • Two-layer WRB and weep screed on every job
  • Kick-out flashing at roof-to-wall intersections
  • Scratch-coat fully cured before stone installation
  • Mortar joints tooled and pointed to match style
  • Sealer applied per manufacturer spec where required

Project Spotlight

Exterior chimney chase wrap — Iron County

A 22-foot chimney chase originally sided in faded LP that the owners wanted clad in real stone. We added shelf angles for anchor support, installed a Tyvek + lath assembly, and set anchored natural stone over the full height. Three years in, no settling cracks, no efflorescence, no movement.

Common Questions

Frequently Asked

Q.What's the difference between adhered and anchored stone veneer?

Adhered veneer is thin (about 1–2 inches) and bonded to a scratch-coat substrate with mortar — lighter and faster. Anchored veneer is full-thickness stone tied back to the structure with metal anchors — heavier, more authentic, requires a shelf angle. We install both.

Q.Can you install stone veneer over existing siding?

Sometimes. We assess substrate, weight capacity, and water management first. Many vinyl- or hardboard-sided walls can take adhered veneer over a properly prepped scratch-coat. Brick or stucco substrates almost always work.

Q.Will the veneer crack or fall off over time?

Not when it's installed with proper flashing, weep screed, and a quality scratch-coat. Failures happen when water gets behind the veneer because flashing was skipped — we don't skip it.

Q.Can I match existing stone on a home addition?

If the original stone is still available, yes. If not, we source the closest match and blend by varying placement so the eye doesn't pick up the seam.
